Artist Biography
A 24-year old Danica Kate D. Banzon is a Davao-based freelance and Mural artist who was born in Island Garden City of Samal in 1998. Currently taking up a bachelor of Fine Arts and Design (BFAD) at the University of Mindanao, and she also a former Art teacher at Araneta Performing Arts Center. Her skills developed and changed when she enrolled Fine Arts as she was able to gain more and more experiences. What influence her to pursue art is the power it has to express emotions. Creating art means being able to be spontaneous and feel free. Danica, work hard to develop her drawing and painting, and she is still exploring the different types of art and hopefully inspires other. Through this, she wants to encourage all people who love art to pursue their dreams and live passionately.
Artist Statement
I always wanted to become a Fashion Designer ever since when I was a kid, but things changed. I started paying close attention to art during my high school, and I received positive responses from my classmates, teachers and encouragement from my family. I started doing art since then. My art skills developed and changed when I enrolled in Fine Arts as I was able to gain more and more experiences.
What influences me to pursue art is the power it has to express emotions. My art is my voice and my hidden emotion. It also reflects my journey in my life. For me creating art is being able to feel free to be spontaneous. I work hard to develop my drawing and painting skills and I want to keep exploring the different types of art and hopefully I can inspire others. Through this, I want to encourage all people who love art to pursue their dreams and live life passionately!
However, my favorite piece are works that I have been commissioned to make and some of my plates. The materials I usually use are graphite pencil and ball pen. And lately I’ve been in love with using oil paints and acrylic. I can create and express whatever I want in art. But I did not limit myself for other medium and materials. I am still learning and exploring the art world. And currently, I’m getting out of my comfort zone to see more of what art has to offer.
